Hi
I've been lurking a bit.
I have a large-medium sized dog. He was sold by Pets Paradise 2 years
ago as a labrador x curly coat retriever x greyhound?? He's all black
but he has a white swirl under his chin/on his chest.
My neighbor's called the RSPCA because I'm underfeeding him. He's fed
enough to keep an elephant happy, but he will not put on weight. How do
I put a bit of weight on him? I don't want a fat dog, but I need to make
him at least look well fed.
I fed him 5 little bits of cheese today, will that help him put on
weight? I've tried the 2 small meals, it didn't help.

Cazz

When you say he is fed enough to keep an elephant happy do you mean he eats
enough all at once or that he has enough food available to make an elephant
happy. Has he been to the vet to see what the vet says? If it's his breed
type to be thin looking then a vet could tell you how much to feed and still
have him in good order. If you see hip bones then yes your dog is too thin.
What did the RSPCA tell you?

I mean foods always available to him, but he generally ignores it.
Because he's a pet shop puppy, we don't know what he is.
The RSPCA told me my dog's not eating enough, for a month I've been
mixing an egg in with his biscuits, and he'll stand there and eat
everything in the bowl.
He has a very large ribcage, like a bulldog's, but his back end is like
a greyhound's.

I think a visit to your vet is the most prudent coarse of action.
